PESHAWAR: A security forces’ covert operation killed a terrorist allegedly involved in the 2009 attack on the General Headquarters Rawalpindi, a local TV channel reported.
According to sources, the intelligence agencies were informed about the presence of terrorist named Iqbal in a home in Gomal area of South Waziristan – after which a secret operation with other security forces was launched for the militant’s arrest.
The forces raided the area and tried to capture the accused but he opened fire and was killed in the security forces’ retaliatory firing.
The attack – took place between October10-11, 2009 when according to the investigation of the incident ten militants wearing army uniforms attacked the GHQ in Rawalpindi – left four terrorists, two soldiers and three hostages dead while three commando soldiers died succumbed to their injuries.
