LAHORE: Pakistan Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has stressed the need for modern and well-equipped railway terminals for locomotives, carriages and wagons.
Presiding over a meeting at Pakistan Railways headquarters, here on Saturday, he said that new terminals should be constructed according to the modern requirements and to fulfil the increasing needs of passengers and crops in Pakistan.
He directed the officials concerned to ensure additional residential quarters, security, boundary wall, grounds, play area, school and busses for staff of the Pipri Marshalling Yard Terminal so the employees could perform their duties with complete confidence for the betterment of the railways.
Earlier, a briefing was given about up-gradation of the Diesel Shed Karachi and construction of new terminal at Pipri Marshalling Yard. The minister was also informed about the up-gradation work of Mughalpura Steel Workshop on which he ordered complete up-gradation of the workshop and installation of latest machinery during the next year.
Railways Chief Executive Officer Javaid Anwar, Advisor Anjum Pervaiz and other senior officers attended the meeting.
