KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Saturday announced that the party would observe three days of mourning following the death of iconic philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi.
In a statement issued by the party media cell here, Bilawal said that Pakistan has been disadvantaged of its supreme icon of humanity with the departure of Abdul Sattar Edhi for the eternal world.
Expressing deep sorrow over the death of the legendary philanthropist, the PPP chief paid glowing tribute to the humanitarian for his vast philanthropic activities.
He said Edhi worked untiringly for the underprivileged irrespective of their religion, caste, colour and creed, which made him the essence of humanity for the entire world. He added that Edhi lived to serve humanity.
“People like him are born in centuries and his death has left millions orphaned today, who will need fortitude and courage to come to terms with their grief over this irretrievable loss.”
“We mourn the death of our remarkable philanthropist, the great patriot, the selfless Abdul Sattar Edhi, who devoted his entire life to serve the nation. He has left us with a legacy that will continue to inspire our generations and shall always keep his memories alive in our hearts,” he said.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed condolences and sympathies to his family and prayed to Allah Almighty to shower His blessings upon them and grant them strength to continue Edhi’s humanitarian work.
